About Deli Seoul

A family deli, reimagined

Korean-American fusion bagels and rice bowls in Costa Mesa, CA — built by a mother-and-son team who decided to cook what they love.

Irene Wang opened Deli Bagel & Cafe in 2008 on Harbor Boulevard, near Tokyo Central. It was a straightforward American bagel shop — plain bagels, cream cheese, bacon and egg sandwiches. She ran it for years while raising her son Jun in Costa Mesa.

When Jun left his tech career to join the family business, they started asking a question: what if the deli reflected who they actually are? In early 2025, they moved to Adams Avenue, renamed the shop Deli Seoul, and started putting Seoul steak, gochujang, and sweet-glazed spam on the menu alongside the classics.

The name says it all. "Deli" is the format — counter service, build-your-own, kettle chips on the side. "Seoul" is the soul — Korean proteins, Irene's homemade sauces, kimbap rolls handmade with care. It's not fusion for fusion's sake. It's a family cooking what they know and love.

Today, Deli Seoul serves breakfast bagels from 7 AM and adds rice bowls and kimbap at 10:30. The menu is half Korean, half American, and entirely from scratch. Irene still makes every batch of Korean chili mayo by hand.

We stopped trying to be a conventional deli and started cooking what we actually eat at home.
